    I was raised as a Jehovah's Witness. Three out of four of JWs have colossal mental health issues. Probably more, but to be on the safe side I'd say 75%. Religious trauma is very real. And the solution ain't more Jesus fairytales and sophistry about what God akshually meant. It's time we looked at religion honestly.

    I'm 44 I'm still as suicidal over this as I was at age 22 I won't make it till 66. Just someone please excise this from my brain. I'd take a lobotomy over this. I can't have the Old Testament God judging me! Compared to his rap sheet I look like a saint. Anyone who murders his son so he can forgive someone else needs their head checked. What is it with God and his enduring love of bloodshed? How is this allowed in this day & age it's barbaric. I was 6 years old when I was told how unworthy of God's love I was. I hated humanity for it's sin. Now is see the beauty in humanity OK so there's still alot of ugly stuff but we are all a work in progress. Thank You

    Not being allowed to trust your own judgement is such a fundamental core in these religious circles Infact there's a Bible verse I believe that says something to the tune of 'lean not on your own understanding'.

    One thing I really struggled with growing up in Church all those years was God deciding and determining we all were bad from the get n' go and estranged from Him simply by being born just because of what Adam supposedly did once upon a time..... Why is it so important that a God has to be # 1 in all things and be constantly worshipped??? And anything in contradiction to that deserves eternal Hell???

  • @jarodcarnarvon5198
    @jarodcarnarvon5198 2 роки тому

    Actually, there are plenty of Christians even today who still believe Hell is a literal fire. I was at a Church just a few years ago who were joking about psychics being in an eternal fire. I may not necessarily be in support of some psychics ripping people off, but let me say that many psychics have used their abilities to help the police catch criminals. The churches I attended years ago said that psychics were of the devil. Why the heck would the devil use psychics to help the police catch the bad guys??? It seems to me the devil would do the exact opposite, at according to what I was taught about the devil I really agree with this woman. Growing up in Church in the late 70s, 80s, and early 90s, I was indoctrinated with all the stuff about the devil, Hell, and the Rapture and was scared out of my witts!!! It is damaging to children to teach that stuff!!!

    I think one should not only consider the mental state of the ones who try to set themselves free, but the mental state (insane, psychopatic mental state) of the endoctrinators. If they can be perceived as psychopaths, it may facilitate the process of rescuing oneself.

    Thank you so much! I've been through the same thing after leaving the charismatic movement here in Holland. I started questioning what I was believing al these years , a so called relationship with Jesus, they didn't even call it a religion. Which it defintilely is! I realised I had been brainwashed. It was all fear based.... Taking the Bible literarly, homofobic opinions ..... One of the best decisions I've ever made in my life is starting to think for myself and leaving this cult. NOW I'm actually FREE INDEED! Namaste from Amsterdam

      Quitting religion is harder than quitting addiction. Addition is just a chemical thing you DO. Religious indoctrination is woven into the fiber of you very being. And it is who you ARE. The only way to get past it is quit going deeper into it. It will take a long time to detox from these cultist beliefs. Bug every day you are out of it is a day better off than you were the day before. You must start making new friends, finding new interests, looking at things through new eyes. Over time, it becomes easier. In the meantime, read her book, read everything you can about RTS, watch all the UA-cam videos you can. It is amazingly therapeutic to know you are NOT alone. Replace God with YOU. God's will with YOUR will. Develop your OWN interests. You will get there!! I know from personal experience. It'sa hard and long journey, but all journeys begging with the first step. Then the second. You can do this!!!

    I really appreciate the work Marlene Winell is doing. I totally relate to the abuse she describes. However I am surprised and a little offended by some of Dr. Tarico’s questions and reactions. I guess she just doesn’t get it. Which continues to feelings of abuse. She could be a more empathetic interviewer.
